Year 1

What have we been up to this week?

Ahoy from all the crew in Year 1. Classes 4, 5 and 6 have been visited by members from the RNLI this week. We’ve discussed the importance of water safety as a class and the lessons have been informative as they have been fun. We’ve seen the equipment the RNLI use. We’ve seen the vehicles and the methods they use to help people in trouble. And, most importantly, we’ve learned the four points that the RNLI teach: 1) Stop and think. 2) Stay together. 3) Float. 4) Call 999 or 112. With these instructions in mind, the children can make the most out of water fun and water safety. You might want to ask your child to demonstrate how to float in water! As well as being a fun skill to do, it is also an essential part of water safety.
