English work this term:
During the Summer Term, pupils will be focusing on Spelling, Punctuation and Grammar for the first few weeks in preparation for their SATs tests. Following this, children will be writing Formal Letters of Complaint. During the Summer Term, Year 6 will develop their independent writing skills, using a prompt to select their own genre and planning their own ideas. This will allow children develop a portfolio on independent writing pieces to showcase their writing skills. Children will focus on specific SPaG skills within a unit before writing a part of the text each day. Within each lesson, children will be explicitly taught one SPaG skill and focus on this during their writing, which will give them a better understanding of the vocabulary they will need to understand for SATs.
